NJSP: Shoplifting Case Cracked; Aided by Social Media, Public’s Tips

SEAVILLE – New Jersey State Police, via their Facebook page, reported the arrest of two men who they stated were identified as suspects who allegedly stole $1,000 worth of steak, crab, and fruit from the Acme Market in Upper Township. 

 

According to their Facebook, Aug. 29, at 4:31 p.m., NJSP asked for public assistance identifying two men wanted in connection with the above incident.

 

“Within 30 minutes of our post, detectives received a tip, which positively identified Faustino Colon III, 25, of Millville. A few days later, Sept. 3, another tip from a person who saw our social media post identified the second suspect, Matthew J. Monette, 27, of Galloway Township.

 

“Woodbine troopers charged both suspects with theft. We would like to thank everyone who liked and shared our original post. Your assistance and support is greatly appreciated.”

 

The incident occurred Aug. 11, at approximately 9:45 p.m. when the suspects entered the Acme in Upper Township and allegedly stole $1,000 worth of crab meat, steaks, and fruit. One suspect was described as a white male, approximately 20 to 30 years old, 6’0,” with tattoos on his right forearm and upper left arm. He was last seen wearing a “Thug Life” black tank top, black shorts, blue running shoes, and a gray ball cap.

 

The second suspect was described as a white male, approximately 18 to 25 years old, with short black/ brown hair. He was last seen wearing a light gray shirt, dark gray shorts, and white shoes.

 

The first suspect is also wanted by the Egg Harbor Township Police Department in connection with an on-going investigation.

 

The above information was received by a law enforcement agency. The persons named are innocent unless proven otherwise.
