Middle Police Make Arrest in Home Invasion, Burglaires

By Herald Staff

COURT HOUSE — Middle Township police made an arrest Thursday at 2 p.m. in connection with three burglaries and two thefts and a home invasion in Rio Grande.
One of those burglaries included the theft of a 2006 Lexus.
Arrested was Morris L. Sparrow, 20, who had been residing in a Rio Grande motel.
Sparrow was arrested by Cpl. Jeff DeVico and Patrolman Felix Cruz Jr. on outstanding bench warrants from Newark. He was initially identified as a possible suspect by Patrolman Kenneth Martin, and a subsequent investigation by Detective Sgt. Chris Murphy and Detective Don Nelson, both of the Major Crime Unit, revealed his alleged involvement in the burglaries and thefts.
Sparrow was charged with three counts of burglary and one count of theft. His bail was set at $15,000 by Municipal Court Judge Peter Tourison.
Police remind all homeowners to locks doors and vehicles, especially in summer when there are many transients in the area.
