VILLAS – Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland and Lower Township Police Chief William Mastriana announced the July 26 arrest of John Deangelis, 56, of Villas who was charged with luring.
According to a jointly-issued July 27 release, on July 24, Lower Township Police and the County Prosecutor’s Special Victims Unit began an investigation after learning of a video that was being circulated on social media.
As a result, Deangelis was processed and charged with the crime. He was remanded to the Cape May County Correctional Center pending court proceedings.
Being a crime of the second degree, Sutherland stated that a person convicted of such a charge faces five to 10 years in prison.
He further urged individuals who have information regarding alleged crimes not to take matters into their own hands, but instead to notify law enforcement agencies.
