Lower Township Police Charge Man with Sexual Contact, Endangering Welfare of a Child

NORTH CAPE MAY — On Saturday, Dec. 27, Lower Township police arrested a 24-year-old Indian Avenue resident, and charged him with sexual contact and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
According to a release, police concluded an investigation into an alleged act of sexual contact with a 30-year-old female.
James Wolford, 24, of Indian Avenue, North Cape May, was the suspect and an acquaintance of the victim.
Police said the victim was awakened by Wolford inappropriately touching her. That act took place in the presence of her two young children.
Wolford was arrested, processed and transferred to county jail with bail set at $50,000 cash by Municipal Court Judge David DeWeese.
Sexual contact is a crime of the fourth degree. Endangering the welfare of a child is a second-degree crime.
Patrolman Ryan Hansberry and Detectives Chris Lambert and Art Mason investigated the case.
