Lower Police Charge Two with Dealing Heroin

By Herald Staff

VILLAS — On April 24 at approximately 3 p.m., Lower Township police arrested two locals for allegedly delivering a “significant” amount of heroin.
Police arrested Heath Lindholm, 36, and Dawn R. Rex, 35, both of the 1100 block of Delaware Avenue.
According to police, the two were under surveillance as they traveled down Bayshore Road to deliver a large amount of heroin to a business location in North Cape May. Police intercepted the vehicle upon the subjects’ arrival at their destination and observed a bundle of heroin on the seat.
After further investigation, police seized a total of eight bundles consisting of 80 bags of heroin with an approximate street value of $2000. The remaining packages that were recovered had been secreted on the arrestee’s person and discovered while she was being lodged in county jail.
The suspects were charged with possession of heroin and possession with the intent to distribute. They were remanded to county jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail set by Judge David DeWeese.
Detectives Mel Hedum, Chris Lambert and Edward Dougherty as well as Patrolmen William Barcas and Donald Vanaman investigated the case.
Chief Donohue commended the ongoing efforts of his detectives and patrol officers in combating drug dealers in Lower Township. He stated that the department would continue to work closely with the County Prosecutor’s Office Guns, Gangs and Drug Task Force by taking the fight to the drug dealers to send a clear message that this type of activity will not be tolerated in our communities.
Donohue noted that law enforcement cannot do this alone and urged the public to report any criminal or suspicious activity to the Lower Township Police Department Safe Neighborhood Tip Line at 886-1619 extension 156 or Cape May County Crime Stoppers at 465-2800 or the new County Sheriffs Text Tip Line by dialing TIP-411.
