COURT HOUSE – Superior Court Judge John Porto denied a defense request June 20 to move the trial of two men charged in the killing of 15-year-old Nicole Angstadt out of Cape May County, The Press of Atlantic City reports.
Porto did not decide whether Derrick Powers and Charles Mosley will be tried together, but directed First Assistant Prosecutor Robert Johnson to prepare redacted statements to remove the parts where the men implicate or even mention the other.
According to Porto, neither man confessed to killing the 15-year-old in the statements, but both, either directly or indirectly, implicated the other.
A hearing to consider the redacted statements is tentatively scheduled for Sept. 13, the report continued.
