Indictments Filed June 19

COURT HOUSE – A Cape May County grand jury handed up 17 indictments June 19. 
The abbreviation CDS below stands for controlled dangerous substance.
A charge of “certain person not to have a weapon” can be brought against someone who was previously convicted of a felony.
Law enforcement agents have made the allegations against the named individuals who are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Victoria A. Dougherty, Robert M. Ferranti, Anthony Hagan, Edward Ramos-Ocasio, Lee Phillips
The above individuals were each separately indicted on one count of third-degree possession of a CDS.  In three cases the CDS was heroin and in the other two methamphetamines.
Terrance Green
Terrance Green, of Lindenwold, was indicted on second-degree aggravated assault, causing “serious bodily injury” to a male victim in March in Wildwood.
Jonathan Colon-Gonzales, Jose Lopez-Santiago, Ricardo Mercado
Jonathan Colon-Gonzalez, Jose L. Lopez-Santiago and Ricardo Mercado, all of Wildwood, were indicted for third-degree possession of a CDS, heroin. An attempt to tamper with or conceal evidence led to Mercado also facing a fourth-degree count of hindering apprehension.
Richard W. Johnson
During a court-authorized search of his residence, Richard Johnson, 36, of Villas, was found to be in possession of a CDS, heroin. He was also found to possess a weapon termed a “ball mace.” A conviction for aggravated assault in 2009 meant that Johnson is forbidden to possess a weapon.  He was indicted for possession of a CDS in the third degree, along with two fourth-degree counts for hindering apprehension and certain person.
John Leszczynski
John Leszczynski, 38, of Villas, was indicted for terroristic threats in the third degree, along with first-degree witness tampering. A first-degree conviction can carry a jail term of 10 to 20 years. The indictment did not specify the severity of the witness tampering that led to the count being in the first degree.
Tyrone Selby
Tyrone Selby, 29, of Millville, was indicted for possession of a CDS, heroin, along with possession with intent to distribute, each count was in the third degree.
Joseph Morrison, Jr.
Joseph Morrison, Jr., 31, of Villas, was indicted for fourth-degree aggravated assault on a police officer in Lower Township.
Brian Hayward
Brian Hayward was indicted on eight counts related to drug possession and distribution. The indictment states that Hayward both possessed and intended to distribute cocaine and marijuana within 1,000 feet of Wildwood High School and 500 feet of municipal property.
He faces a third-degree count for possession of cocaine and a fourth-degree count for possession of marijuana. The indictment contains five counts for intent to distribute, one in the second degree and the others in the third degree. The final count in the indictment is for third-degree hindering apprehension.
Vincent Stone
Vincent Stone, 33, of Villas, was indicted for unlawful possession of a weapon, a .9mm gun, second degree.
Jacob Wagenvoord
The indictment states that Jacob Wagenvoord, 41, of Ocean City, violated the terms of community supervision, fourth degree, when he used a CDS and failed to live at an approved address. Wagenvoord was convicted of sexual assault in 2000.
Kyle Wilson
Kyle Wilson, 25, of North Cape May, was involved in a Click-it or Ticket motor vehicle stop in Lower Township in May. Possession of one ounce or more of marijuana led to a fourth-degree count for possession of a CDS and a third-degree count for possession with intent to distribute.
Robert Mesterhazy
Robert Mesterhazy, 38, of Swainton, was indicted for second and third-degree aggravated assault on a police officer.
Benjamin J. Young, Derrick J, Gallner
Benjamin Young, 25, and Derrick Gallner, 26, of Rio Grande were indicted for third-degree possession of a CDS, heroin, and third-degree conspiracy to possess heroin. The incident occurred in Wildwood in May.
