COURT HOUSE – A Cape May County grand jury returned the following indictments Aug. 4:
Ernest R. Grey, 40, of Wildwood was indicted for aggravated arson, second degree, and burglary, second degree. Grey allegedly illegally entered a store on Delaware Avenue in North Wildwood at about 11 p.m. April 25, 2014. Police responded to a report of a structure fire at the store. When they arrived heavy smoke was coming from the store. The burglary was discovered after the fire was extinguished. Investigation finally led to Grey’s arrest March 23, 2015. Damage to the store caused it to remain closed for several days.
Charles Markham, 31, of West Wildwood was arrested by Middle Township Police April 29 for an outstanding warrant and possession of a hypodermic needle or syringe. This week the Cape May County grand jury indicted Markham for possession of an electronic communication device while incarcerated, a third-degree crime.
June 16 in North Wildwood, Jeffrey C. Long, 27, had a run-in with police that resulted in a six-count indictment. According to the indictment, Long threatened four North Wildwood police officers with bodily injury, fled the scene, attempted to elude police, and actually assaulted one officer and threatened to kill her. He was indicted for aggravated assault, third degree, resisting arrest, two counts, third and fourth degree, terroristic threats, two counts, third degree, and obstructing the administration of law, third degree. Long was placed in the Cape May County Correctional Center in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Following a Bucks County, Pa., conviction in January 2010 for endangering the welfare of a child, Robert S. Godshall was no longer permitted to own a firearm. Godshall was arrested Dec. 13, 2014 in Upper Township for possession of a Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun. He was indicted for unlawful possession of a weapon, second degree, and certain person, second degree. The certain person charge is for those individuals whose record denies them the right to lawful possession of a weapon.
Davita M. Ennals of Wildwood was indicted for forgery, third degree, uttering a forged instrument, third degree, and theft by deception, two counts, third degree. In October 2014, Ennals allegedly executed a check drawn on an account of a Florida bank and payable to her. She cashed the check at a bank branch in Wildwood and on two subsequent dates, Oct. 27, 2014 and Jan. 2, 2015, she allegedly defrauded the bank of funds in excess of $500.
The individuals are only charged with the offenses and are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
