Domestic Violence Keeps Lower Township Police Busy

ERMA – During the course of the Columbus Day weekend, Lower Township Patrol Officers responded to multiple domestic violence calls and made several arrests in domestic violence complaints.
The following is a breakdown of those calls:
Friday, 10-9-08, 8:30 p.m, domestic violence call in the 100 Block of Virginia Avenue, Villas,
female victim reports that she was assaulted by her boyfriend while inside her motor vehicle
after a verbal argument ensued while driving in the vehicle. No visible signs of injury to the
victim. Victim declined a TRO (temporary restraining order) at this time.
Saturday, 10-10-09, 1:02 pm, subject flagged down an officer to report a domestic occurring in the 1400 Block of Whittier Avenue in North Cape May. Officers reported a heated verbal dispute with the female slapping the male subject in the face. No signs of injuries and no TRO was requested.
Monday, 10-12-09, 3:58 pm, neighbors reported a couple in the roadway having a heated verbal dispute in the 600 Block of Beach Drive in North Cape May.
The female party stated that her boyfriend threw her cell phone into the dunes and grabbed her by the neck causing visible signs of injury during the argument.
The offender in the incident, Ernest Mirabella, Jr. of Wildwood Avenue, Villas, age 33, was arrested at the
scene and charged with simple assault during the course of domestic violence. He was processed at Lower Township Police Department and transported to Cape May County Jail with bail set at $1,500 cash by Municipal Court Judge, David DeWeese.
Monday, 10-12-09, 6:30 pm, a female in the 100 Block of Village Road in the Villas, reports verbal harassment during a domestic incident. No signs of injury. No TRO requested.
Monday, 10-12-09, 8:15 pm, domestic violence with assault. During the course of an argument between two male subjects who reside together, one male subject identified as William Hewitt, Jr. age 21, in the 1400 Block of Rosehill Parkway, North Cape May, struck his 52 year old male room mate in the head with a beer bottle.
The victim sustained a concussion and laceration and had to be transported to Cape Regional Medical Center by the Lower Township Rescue Squad. Hewitt was arrested by Patrol Officer Kenneth McGurk, for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Hewitt was processed at Lower Township Police Department and lodged in the Cape May County Jail on $25,000 full cash bail set by Municipal Court Judge, David DeWeese.
Monday, 10-12-09, at approximately 11:00 pm, Lower Township Communication Center received a 9-1-1 call from a female asking for assistance. Communication’s Operators could hear screaming in the background.
Responding officers advised that the female’s ex-boyfriend came to her apartment located in the 1100 Block of Delaware Avenue in the Villas and gained entry to the apartment through a window. The offender fled upon police arrival. The female victim planned to apply for a TRO through Family Court.
Monday, 10-12-09 at approximately 11:30 pm, domestic violence with assault. Lower Township Police Communication Center received a 9-1-1 call from neighbors in the 100 Block of Evergreen Avenue in the Villas, reporting screaming and a woman down on her front lawn.
Investigation on scene determined that the female, Nicaury Suriel, age 30, had actually assaulted her boyfriend by striking him several times in the face and head with a closed fist, as well as scratching his face. The female also then hit her boyfriend in the back of the head with a beer bottle. The boyfriend was located and subsequently transported to Cape Regional Medical Center by the Lower Township Rescue Squad for injuries sustained in the incident. The female, Nicaury Suriel, was charged by Lower Township Police Department with simple assault during the course of domestic violence. She was processed at the Lower Township Police Department and transported to the Cape May County Jail in default of bail set at $1,000, with a no contact order, by Municipal Court Judge, David DeWeese. The arrest was made by Patrolman Kevin Lewis.
