Crest Police Charge Four Pa. Teens Following Burglary

By Herald Staff

WILDWOOD CREST — On Monday, Feb. 16 at 4:13 p.m., police here received a 9-1-1 call reporting a burglary in progress at a residence on West Lavender Road.
According to police, the caller reported that an individual had attempted to force entry through the front door of his residence. The individual was startled and fled. Moments later, the caller heard the sound of breaking glass at the residence next door and immediately alerted police.
Officer Jason Rowello arrived and spotted a white male, later identified as Patrick Moran, 18, of Glen Mills, Pa., running from the area in question, wearing only boxer shorts and a tee shirt. After a brief chase, Rowello apprehended Moran and arrested him behind the residence without incident, police said.
While investigating the incident, police received another call regarding a third residence on West Lavender Road occupied by an 86-year-old female. She reported that she awoke to find the front door of her home had been forced open. Someone had opened her refrigerator and attempted to prepare a meal that was then left behind on the kitchen table. Her rear door was left standing open, police said.
Officers were led to 226 West Buttercup Road, just several hundred feet from the residences in question, where Moran was reportedly staying. Police found three additional subjects at that address — James Sharp, 18, of Glen Riddle, Pa.; Michael Feeley, 18, of Brook Haven, Pa.; and Daniel Smith, 18, of Newtown Square, Pa. who were all found to be in possession of marijuana.
Moran was charged with burglary, theft and two counts of criminal mischief. He posted 10 percent of $5,000 bail.
Sharp, Feeley and Smith were charged with one count of marijuana possession under 50 grams and released.
