WILDWOOD CREST – Two Philadelphians were arrested Aug. 10 about 9:36 p.m. after the vehicle they were in struck a wooden detour barricade.
According to a release, Wildwood Crest Police Officer Shane Moyer was directing traffic after a borough summer concert. He saw a vehicle approaching his post that was not slowing or stopping.
After repeated commands from Moyer, the vehicle finally stopped after it hit the barricade.
The driver, Robert Baeringer, 33, was found to be impaired, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.
When police investigated, Baeringer was found with a weapon, a spring-loaded baton, controlled dangerous substance suspected to be marijuana and methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.
The passenger, Jenna Jackson, 26, provided false identification about her identity, and was found to be in possession of CDS, suspected heroin, as well as suspected clonamzepam pills not prescribed to her, and drug paraphernalia.
Baeringer was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and related weapons charges, multiple counts of possession of CDS, CDS paraphernalia, driving while intoxicated and multiple traffic violations.
He was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Facility.
Jackson was arrested and charged with multiple counts of possession of CDS, CDS paraphernalia and hindering apprehension.
She was released pending a court date.
In addition to Wildwood Crest Police Department, the Cape May County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit assisted in the investigation.
