VILLAS — Lower Township police, participating in the Cops in Shops program to deter underage persons from buying alcoholic beverages, lowered the boom on two suspects Aug. 17.
In the program, officers pose as employees and patrons of various establishments in order to thwart the purchases, not to target that establishment, police stated in a release.
About 5 p.m. that Friday, Lower Township police arrested two persons at Villas Liquor Store.
Jeff Larson, 31, of Bentz Road, Villas, was charged with purchasing alcohol for an underage person.
David Moyer Jr., 18, of Goshen-Swainton Road, Court House, was charged with having an adult purchase alcohol for him.
A bottle of Absolut vodka was confiscated in the operation.
Both men were arrested and transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released on a summons.
Moyer also received a motor vehicle summons for not having his driver’s license in his possession while operationg a motor vehicle.
Investigating the case were Detective First Class Mel Hedum, and Detective Sgt. Thomas Keywood, with support of patrol and investigative personnel.
