Arrest on Rt. 9 Follows Stolen Car Report

This report is based on information received from law enforcement.
COLD SPRING – Lower Township Police Department received a report June 14 at approximately 9 p.m. of a stolen vehicle from Ocean Drive in Cold Spring. The victim contacted the police after returning to where his vehicle was previously parked and realizing that it had been stolen. The victim described the vehicle as a tan-in-color, four-door Honda CRV. 
According to a release, officers responding to the scene observed the stolen vehicle traveling northbound on Route 9. Patrol officers initiated and conducted a high-risk motor vehicle stop and safely took the driver into custody. The driver was identified as Joseph Alletag, 38, of Lititz, Pa. 
Alletag was subsequently searched and transported to Lower Township Police Headquarters where he was processed and charged on a criminal warrant for possession of stolen property. The vehicle was then returned to the victim. Alletag was then transported to the Cape May County Correctional Center and is awaiting further adjudication. 
Investigation continues by Patrolman Scheid, Patrolman Nuscis, and Special Officer Carr. 
The individual(s) listed is/are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
