Arrest Court House Man for Theft of Antique Purses

ERMA — A Court House man was arrested by Lower Township police on Monday, Sept. 22, charged with theft in connection with two 1920 purses.
According to Lower Township police, on Sunday, Sept. 21, a report was received from the Tree House Antique Store, 742 Seashore Road here, that two antique purses had been stolen from the store.
On that same day, the victim located the items on eBay and notified the eBay Fraud Unit and contacted Lower Township Police with the information.
On Monday, Sept. 22, Detective Edward Dougherty contacted the eBay Fraud Unit. That contact led to a suspect’s location in Court House.
Dougherty contacted the subject, Joseph Garrett, 49, of the 300 block, Hand Avenue, Court House, who was trying to sell the items on the Internet auction site.
Dougherty recovered the two allegedly stolen purses from Garrett’s residence.
Lower Township Detective Division charged Garrett with theft of removable property. Patrolman Ryan Hansberry and Dougherty conducted the investigation.
