COURT HOUSE – Once again, the hearing for defendants suspected in the December 2015 murder of 15-year-old Nicole “Nikki” Angstadt, was delayed following a Sept. 13 appearance in Superior Court.
Two months after her disappearance and the subsequent discovery of her body at an empty home in Rio Grande, Derrick Powers, 24, and Charles Mosley, 34, both of Rio Grande, were arrested and have been incarcerated since that time.
Powers has had his case postponed until Sept. 27 and will appear before Superior Court Judge John Porto Oct. 24 with co-defendant Mosley.
Indicted on June 28, Powers has been charged with:
• Murder, a crime of the first degree.
• Felony murder, a crime of the first degree.
• Conspiracy to commit murder, a crime of the first degree.
• Robbery, a crime of the first degree.
• Conspiracy to desecrate a human body, a crime of the second degree.
• Burglary, a crime of the second degree.
• Attempted aggravated sexual assault, a crime of the second degree.
• Hindering apprehension of another, a crime of the third degree.
• Endangering the welfare of a child, a crime of the third degree.
Mosley was also indicted June 28 and charged with the following:
• Murder, a crime of the first degree.
• Felony murder, a crime of the first degree.
• Conspiracy to commit murder, a crime of the first degree.
• Desecration of a human body, a crime of the second degree.
• Conspiracy to desecrate a human body, a crime of the second degree.
• Burglary, a crime of the second degree.
• Sexual assault, a crime of the second degree.
• Hindering apprehension, a crime of the third degree.
• Endangering the welfare of a child, a crime of the third degree.
