Alleged Condo Burglaries Result in Charges for Wildwood Man

The following is based on information received from a law enforcement agency. The person(s) named is innocent until proven otherwise in court.
     
WILDWOOD – On Jan. 1, 2019 at 11:52 a.m., officers from the Wildwood Police Department Uniformed Patrol Division, responded to the 100 block of East Poplar Avenue, Wildwood, for the report of a burglary not in progress.  
According to a release, during the initial investigation, information was provided by a concerned citizen in connection to suspicious activity at a seasonal condominium complex.   
As a result of the response of the officers assigned to the investigation, it was evident that two individual condominium units had been burglarized there.  
During the investigation, a search of the interior of the condominiums was conducted. An individual, identified as Matthew Loughlin, 37, was found in one of the units.   
After speaking with the homeowners, it was discovered that  Loughlin had moved his belongings into one of the units and was utilizing the premise as a temporary residence.  Additionally, various property belonging to the homeowners was removed as proceeds of the burglary.  
Accordingly, the Wildwood Police Department Detective Division conducted a follow-up investigation and identified two additional properties that had allegedly been burglarized by Loughlin.  
The first property was in the 200 block of East Spencer Avenue, Wildwood and the second property was in the 300 block of East Wildwood Avenue, Wildwood.  
Consequently, Loughlin was charged with four counts of burglary and four counts of theft.  
Loughlin was issued the criminal charges and lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center, following the Attorney General Bail Reform Directive.
