OCEAN CITY — Shortly after midnight on Wednesday, Dec. 17, as Ocean City Patrolman Pat Walsh was on patrol in the city’s north end, he saw a motorist drive past not wearing a seat belt.
After he turned his patrol car around, to make a motor vehicle stop, Walsh reportedly observed the car make a turn without prior signaling. At that time, he turned on his overhead patrol lights and made a motor vehicle stop in the 600 block of Haven Avenue.
On stopping, the operator, Shawn Lamont Jackson, 24, of Absecon, allegedly gave false information to Walsh. He attempted to “keep his real identity from officers because he knew that he was wanted on multiple active warrants, and that he also had illegal narcotics on him and in the vehicle,” according to a release.
When police told him they knew his true identity, Jackson cooperated with all other requests.
Jackson, who is unemployed, was subsequently charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing the administration of justice, possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute in a school zone, multiple active warrants and multiple motor vehicle tickets.
Patrolman Karl Ruf assisted in the investigation.
