Campground Fire Damages Six Sites and a Vehicle

ERMA — On Oct. 23, 2016 at approximately 7:17 a.m. Lower Township Police, multiple Fire Stations, and Lower Township Rescue were dispatched to Beachcomber Campground in the Erma section of Lower Township for a structure fire.
Upon arrival heavy smoke and fire could be seen coming from trailer on a campsite. A vehicle parked in the driveway of the campsite was also on fire. Officers immediately confirmed no one was inside the residence and that all parties were accounted for. The officers quickly evacuated surrounding sites.
Five additional campsites were damaged as a result of the fire. However, no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire, which is not considered suspicious, is under investigation.
Lower Township Police Officers; Patrolman Edward Edwards, Patrolman Anthony Micciche, Patrolwoman Kaitlin Black, and Special Officer Michael Hesson assisted with this case.
