Woodbine Woman Charged With DUI in Corsons Tavern Road Crash

OCEAN VIEW– State Police have charged a Woodbine woman with driving under the influence, careless driving, failure to maintain lane and operating an unregistered vehicle following a crash on Wednesday, May 5 at around 1:30 a.m.
Shirley Turner, 53, was traveling on Corsons Tavern Road when she left the roadway and struck a utility pole causing the SUV she was driving to overturn.
Ocean View fire department and Belleplain Emergency Corps., were dispatched to the scene with Medic 3. South Star medevac was also requested.
Firefighters worked for over thirty minutes to free Turner before she was airlifted to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center’s trauma unit in Atlantic City.
South Star reported Turner to be in stable condition.
Corsons Tavern Road was closed for an extended period of time while crews waited for representatives from Verizon to respond.
The crash is under investigation by Trooper Inserra.
