VILLAS– A Villas man was charged with DUI Thursday night in a two vehicle crash on the 1200 block of Bayshore Road, police said.
Michael Weiss, 48, was exiting the Wing It shop at about 6:30 p.m., when he pulled out in front of a Ford Escape driving on Bayshore Road, Sgt. Martin Biersbach, said. The Ford Escape struck the SUV Weiss was driving on the drivers side. Weiss then continued on and struck the side of the former Sweet Briar motel.
Villas firefighters used the Jaws-of-life to extricate Weiss, Villas fire chief Rich Harron, Jr. said.
Weiss was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center by Lower Township Rescue Squad and AtlantiCare paramedics. Biersbach said Weiss was treated and released.
Code enforcement officials were called to the scene to inspect the structural integrity of the now-closed motel, Harron, Jr. said.
The name of the other driver, who was not seriously hurt, was not released.
Weiss is charged with driving under the influence and other moving violations Biersbach said.
