UPDATE: Injured Wildwood Catholic Student Stable After Sports Injury

By Harry B. Scheeler Jr.

NORTH WILDWOOD- Wildwood Catholic sophomore Zach DeWeese is in stable condition at the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus after a sports injury sent him to the trauma center.
DeWeese was playing in the Jan. 5 high school basketball game against Bridgeton and while making a layup shot, was struck from the rear by another player. That caused him to strike the wall, and two others fell atop him.
North Wildwood Fire Department and Atlanticare Paramedics were dispatched to Wildwood Catholic High School around 7:40 p.m. When firefighters arrived they requested a medevac helicopter to fly DeWeese, to a trauma center.
According to High School Principal Richard Turco, DeWeese’s CAT scan came back negative and he was scheduled to undergo a MRI later on Tuesday.
