BURLEIGH— One person was injured in a single vehicle crash here on Route 9 south of Oyster Road at 1:35 a.m. on Friday, May 29.
The vehicle left the roadway and then struck a utility pole before overturning onto its side. The pole was left severed, suspended in air above the northbound lane.
Sgt. Conte and Cpl. Sittineri arrived to find a 94 White Buick Century on its passenger side between the northbound lane and grassy shoulder. Sgt. Conte cut the seatbelt to free the driver.
The driver identified as Jacquelyn Gaskill, 23, of Cape May Court House was charged with driving while intoxicated and other traffic offenses,according to police.
Jacquelyn was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center by Rio Grande Rescue Squad for non-life threatening injuries, according to police.
The Cape May County Fire Police and New Jersey Department of Transportation were called to the scene to close Route 9 from Oyster Road to Indian Trail Road while crews worked to replace the utility pole and clear the wreckage.
