UPDATE: CG Ends Search; Three Friends Die in Capsizing

ATLANTIC CITY — The Coast Guard suspended its search Nov. 29 for Jerry Berwick, 64 of Philadelphia, who went missing when the boat he was on capsized about five miles off the coast of Atlantic City.
A TowBoat U.S. salvage team re-righted the boat at about 1 p.m. and discovered Berwick’s body inside the boat’s cabin.
Earlier today, the Coast Guard released the names of two others who died in the capsizing: Danny Pavic of Galloway and Mark Stroud, 45.
All three men were aboard the 25-foot pleasure boat Knucklehead.
At about 1:10 a.m. Nov. 29, a Coast Guard rescue helicopter crew discovered the overturned 25-foot boat about five miles off the coast of Atlantic City. Two of the fishermen were discovered at the scene and declared deceased by a medical examiner.
The Coast Guard received a call from a friend of the fishermen at about 5:45 p.m. Nov. 28 who reported the three men had not returned from a fishing trip.
The 25-foot pleasure craft was towed to Somers Point.
Coast Guard crew’s searched a total of 1,145.23 overlapping square miles.
The search consisted of the following crews:
A C-130 Hercules airplane crew from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C.
An HH-65C Dolphin rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City
A rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Barnegat Light, N.J.
A rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Atlantic City
The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Finback, home-ported in Cape May, N.J.
A boat crew from Sea Tow Services International
A boat crew from TowBoat U.S.
A boat crew from the New Jersey State Police Marine Services Bureau
