By Herald Staff

COURT HOUSE – Middle Township Rescue, Stone Harbor Rescue and Rio Grande Rescue responded to a two-car accident at Stone Harbor Boulevard and a southbound lane of the Garden State Parkway. The accident, which occurred late Wednesday night, was caused by a driver running a red light.
According to Trooper M. Sosnicki of the New Jersey State Police Bass River Barracks, a black 2000 Chevrolet Silverado was being driven southbound on the Parkway. Its driver, an 18-year-old male, ran a red light striking a green 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee which was making a left turn from the northbound lane of the Parkway onto westbound Stone Harbor Boulevard.
The driver of the Silverado was the sole passenger in the vehicle. There were five passengers in the Grand Cherokee, including three children, ages 12, 12 and 6, in the backseat.
The driver of the Silverado, as well as the front seat passenger of the Cherokee were airlifted to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center (ARMC). According to Sosnicki, their injuries were non-life threatening and they were “taken as a precaution.” The remaining four passengers in the Cherokee were taken to Cape Regional Medical Center.
Court House Fire Department and State Police were also on scene for investigation and clean up.
