Trash Truck Damaged Avoiding Crash in Rio Mall Parking Lot

RIO GRANDE– A Cifaloglio trash truck sustained substantial damage attempting to avoid a head on collision Wednesday morning in the parking lot of the Rio Mall.
Middle Township Police spokesman Lt. John Edwards said the truck crashed into a parking lot light which has a cement base attempting to avoid an oncoming vehicle.
Edwards said the front axle of the truck and fuel tank were ripped from the truck in the collision causing a fuel spill of about 40 feet in diameter.
The Rio Grande fire department was dispatched due to the fuel spill Edwards said.
The driver of the truck was not injured Edwards said.
No citations were issued Edwards said.
