Small Plane Flips at Woodbine Airport; No Injuries

By Don Tozer

WOODBINE- A small plane crashed at Woodbine Municipal Airport around 2:45 p.m. April 27. The single-engine Super Cub aircraft came to rest upside down on the runway. The pilot and his passenger were conscious and alert, and able to escape the wreckage unassisted.
According to bystanders, the aircraft had been conducting “touch and go” exercises when a powerful wind gust caught the plane under the wing, causing a loss of control. New Jersey State Police and the Woodbine Volunteer Fire Department responded to assess the passengers and contain the small fuel leak.
The names of the pilot, passenger, and owner of the aircraft were not immediately available as the investigation was ongoing.
