RIO GRANDE — A Philadelphia man was found wet and shaking by the side of a road Sun., Dec. 4 at 5:30 a.m.
Middle Township police received a report of a man wearing all black standing on the side of the road on Rte. 47. When officers arrived, they found Daniel Carty, 31, completely wet and shaking from cold. Carty was disoriented and confused.
Upon investigation, it was found to be a motor vehicle crash. The victim’s vehicle had gone off the side of the road and was completely submerged in a creek.
Middle Township Rescue responded to treat Carty for possible hypothermia.
Ptl. Steven Novsak of the Middle Township Dive Team went into the water to make sure no other victims were in the submerged vehicle.
The vehicle was lifted from the water. Officers found suspected marijuana in the vehicle. Carty was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of CDS paraphernalia and several motor vehicle offenses.
Carty was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center for treatment of hypothermia.
