Near Drowning in Crest Sends Toddler to Hospital

WILDWOOD CREST — A 2-year-old boy was airlifted to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia after he was found floating in a pool at the Apollo Motel on Sat., June 9.
According to a police report officers responding to a call to the St. Paul Avenue motel found the toddler, a resident of Elizabeth, to be out of the pool and being attended to by two bystanders who were performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Cpl. Robert Jaffe and Sgt. Edward Gorski took over CPR until Wildwood Crest Rescue arrived.
The child was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center where he was evaluated and then airlifted to Children’s Hospital. He has been listed in critical condition.
Police report bystanders found the child floating in the pool and lifted him out. Emergency personnel from Wildwood Crest police, Wildwood Crest Rescue and Atlanticare Medic Unit No. 9 responded to the scene.
The incident remains under investigation by the Wildwood Crest Detective Division.
