Injuries Reported in Four-Vehicle Accident

COLD SPRING — The Lower Township Police Department on July 15 2008 at 7:49 p.m. responded to a report of a multiple motor vehicle accident near the end of the Garden State Parkway at the entrance to the Tranquility section of Lower Township on Route 109.
Police discovered a four-car accident with multiple injuries. Two of the less serious injured were transported to the Cape Regional Medical Center by the Lower Township Rescue Squad.
Lower Township Rescue treated a more serious injured individual before transferring the patient by helicopter to the trauma unit at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Division.
Police investigation of the crash disclosed that one vehicle was stopped at a red light and was struck from behind by another vehicle. The vehicle was then pushed through the light and into the other lane of travel at which time it hit a third vehicle and that vehicle was pushed back into a fourth vehicle.
The driver of the first vehicle stated that she did not see the red light or the vehicle stopped for the light due to the sun glare.
The driver identified as Uta M. Fellechner, of Philadelphia, was issued a summons for careless driving.
Patrolman Charles Ryan investigated the accident, Members of the Erma Volunteer Fire Company, the Townbank Fire Company and Lower Township Rescue Squad provided assistance at the crash scene and treated the injured.
