Dirt Bike Crash Results in Youth Being Airlifted

By Herald Staff

COLD SPRING — On April 28 at approximately 6 p.m., Lower Township police received a report of an ATV accident that resulted in an injury to a child in the area of Oreo’s Pit south of the Cape May Canal.
Upon arrival, police and EMS personnel discovered that an eight-year-old boy had sustained a lower leg laceration with the bone exposed. Police said the boy’s injury appeared to be from a foot peg on the motorized mini-bike he was operating at the time of the accident.
The Erma Fire Department set up a landing zone for the child to be airlifted for treatment to Cooper Medical Center, Camden.
The accident is under investigation by Patrol Officer Jennifer Anzelone.
