RIO GRANDE — A 31-year-old woman was arrested Sun., Nov. 27 after allegedly fleeing the scene of an accident at Rte. 47 and Railroad Avenue.
According to Capt. John Edwards of Middle Township Police Department, Crystal Rose of Court House was driving north on Route 47 at approximately 7 p.m. when she rear ended a 1994 Jeep driven by Debbie Halbruner, 24, of Villas.
After hitting Halbruner’s vehicle, Rose drove off without stopping at the scene.
“As officers responded,” said Edwards, “they were told she had fled.”
Rose’s 1991 GMC sports utility vehicle was found sitting in the middle of Secluded Lane with Rose and her 11-year-old passenger still inside.The vehicle suffered extensive front-end damage.
“She was tested for DWI,” said Edwards, “and found to be impaired.”
Neither Rose nor her juvenile passenger was injured. Halbruner and her passenger, a 23-year-old man, were transported to Cape Regional Medical Center.
Rose was arrested for endangering the welfare of a child. She received summonses for driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, careless driving, resisting arrest and possession of narcotics.
She was remanded to the county jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
Patrolman Leonard Larkin was the arresting officer.
