Construction Accident: Steamroller Injures Worker

ERMA — The Lower Township Police Department reported that on Aug. 12 at approximately 2:30 p.m. a steamroller injured a worker for Frank Well’s Paving.
The paving contractor was completing a job on Tabernacle Road and while a steamroller was being loaded onto a commercial trailer the machine overturned and fell onto the worker.
Upon Police arrival the subject was complaining of chest pains and difficulty breathing. Erma Fire Company along with Lower Township Rescue Personnel responded to the scene to assist with medical treatment and cleanup of the fuel spill from the machinery.
After evaluation by rescue personnel, the patient was flown to Atlantic City Medical Center City Division by helicopter.
Cape May County Emergency Management was notified for the fuel spill and this was turned over to them along with the Department of Environmental Protection.
Corporal Ernest Macomber and Patrolman Edward Edwards investigated the case.
