CAPE MAY– The Coast Guard rescued four people aboard a disabled 56-foot fishing boat Friday 28 miles off the coast of Cape May.
The Coast Guard received a call at 10:14 p.m from a crew member aboard the Miss Dollie, homeported in Sneads Ferry, N.C., reporting they had lost their generator and were having problems with their main engine. The crew of the fishing boat also confirmed they had survival suits and an emergency position indicating radio beacon in case the situation escalated.
A rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Cape May, arrived on scene and reported the Miss Dollie was taking on water, their outriggers were stuck in the water, they do not have an anchor and they have 9,900 pounds of flounder in hold.
The rescue boat crew passed a dewatering pump to the crew of the Miss Dollie and put the fishing boat in tow.
The rescue boat crew will tow the crew of the Miss Dollie to Cape May Harbor unless arrangements can be made with commercial salvaging for relief of tow.
No injuries were reported
