Boater Rescued After Nearly an Hour in Cape May Harbor

By Harry B. Scheeler Jr.

Cape May City— An unidentified man was pulled from the Cape May Harbor after falling overboard from a small dinghy on Thursday, Oct 29 at around 9:10 p.m.
According to Deputy Fire Chief Richard Lundholm, calls for help were heard at the Lobster House. Authorities were called when the source of the man yelling for help could not be found.
The Fire Department was dispatched to Harbor Cover Road where Cape May City Police located the man and pulled him from the water. Lundholm said the man who was not wearing a life vest, barely had the strength to pull himself out of the water.
The man told firefighters he was in the water around forty-five minutes. “He was lucky to be found and lucky to be alive”. Lundholm said.
The man was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center by the Cape May City Fire Department and Medic 9 for treatment of hypothermia, Lundholm said.
