DENNISVILLE — Three people were injured and sent to area hospitals after two vehicles collided during the morning commute. The accident occurred Wed., June 6 at 7:42 a.m. along Route 47 near milepost 18.3.
According to state police, a silver Ford Focus, traveling southbound on Route 47 crossed over the centerline into oncoming traffic and collided with a white Ford Explorer. As a result of the accident all involved parties sustained injuries.
Members of Belleplain Fire Rescue removed the driver of the Ford Explorer from the vehicle by using the Jaws of Life. The driver sustained multiple fractures and was airlifted to the trauma center of Atlanticare Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the Ford Focus was also entrapped and subsequently extricated by emergency personnel using the Jaws of Life. After being removed, she was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
A passenger in the Ford Explorer suffered minor injuries and was transported to Cape Regional Medical Center.
The accident remains under investigation by Trooper G. Canonico.
