METZGER, CAROL ANN
Carol Ann Metzger, age 84 of Wildwood Crest, was called to her heavenly home passing suddenly yet peacefully on Thursday, February 27, 2025. She was born in Philadelphia, PA. Her earliest childhood memories were centered around the events of WW II. During this time, the family German Shepherd, Dusty was enlisted in the US Coast Guard. Dusty served as a patrol dog to help secure the beaches.
In 1952, her family moved to Wildwood Crest. She graduated from Philip Baker School in 1954, Wildwood High School in 1958 and the University of Delaware in 1962. She began her teaching career in Lower Township Elementary School system. She taught sixth, second and then finished her career teaching kindergarten. During this time, she went on to attain a Master's Degree in Education. After teaching for 33 years, she retired in 1995.
Carol was very active in her church teaching Sunday School, Junior Church and Vacation Bible School. Through this, she extended her influence to many Middle Township students as well.
In 1963, she married Bob Metzger of Wildwood Crest and moved into his childhood home where she resided for 61 years. She and Bob were blessed with a daughter, Beth. Throughout their lives, Carol and Beth would grow to be best friends, relying on each other through thick and thin.
Carol was predeceased by her mother and father, Bill and Carol Sinn, her husband Bob Metzger of 35 years, her brother-in-law, Tom Quinn and her brother-in-law, Moe Bixler. She is survived by her daughter Beth (George Davis), four sisters, Barbara Bixler, Nancy James (Chuck), Judy Katrosh (John) and Debbie Quinn. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held 11AM on Saturday March 8, 2025 at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Road, North Cape May where relatives and friends will be received from 10 to 11AM.
Donations may be made to Wounded Warriors Project or to Tunnels to Tower Foundation.
