MARTIN, DOROTHY MAY
Dorothy May Martin, 81, of North Wildwood, NJ, passed away peacefully with her son by her side on Easter Saturday, April 19, 2025.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late James and Lorraine Nugent. Dorothy, known lovingly as Dottie, raised her family in North Wildwood while working for many years as a waitress at Ed Zaberer's restaurant, and later at the Crow's Nest in Diamond Beach, where she spent nearly 20 summers. After retiring from waitressing, Dottie earned her CDL license and became a dedicated school bus driver for special needs children in Cape May County, a role she proudly held for over a decade before retiring in 2010.
She deeply loved her family and her many pets, especially her beloved dog, Sasha, and several cherished cats. She also enjoyed spending warm summer days at the beach watching the ocean.
Dottie was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Linda Martin (2014); her husband, John “Jack” Martin (2011); and her sister, Cathy “Cassie” Bartlett (2011).
She is survived by her son, Jim Martin, and his wife, Lisa; her grandchildren, Brooke and Zachary Martin; and extended family members, Cliff and Tara Bartlett, and Tim and Elizabeth Bartlett.
A private prayer and reflection ceremony was held on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, and a celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothy's name to Holy Redeemer Jersey Shore Food Pantry, c/o Office of Philanthropy, 521 Moredon Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006.
