The following are recent results in games played by local youth baseball and softball teams:
MAJOR BASEBALL
Greater Wildwood-Elks 9, Greater Wildwood-Raging Waters 1: Cade Vogdes went 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBI and also allowed only one hit over 3 2/3 shutout innings for the pitching win for Elks. Max DelMonte got the save, allowing just one hit and one run over 2 1/3 innings. DelMonte and Ryan McGrath also each had two hits. Antonio Panzini chipped in a two-run single and Brian Cunniff singled and scored three runs. For Raging Waters, Broc Denke pitched three solid innings, conceding just two runs, and also scored his team’s run.
MAJOR SOFTBALL
Greater Wildwood-Optimist 22, Dennis Township 7: Allyson Vessels doubled, tripled and had four RBI and Emily Evans had two hits, three runs scored and three RBI for Optimist. Dani Shaw pitched five innings for the win.
Northfield 16, Greater Wildwood-Optimist 5: Northfield’s Sienna Gizelbach went 2 for 4 with three RBI and three runs scored and was also the winning pitcher with 11 strikeouts. Julia Wallace and Bella Berretta each had three hits for Northfield. Emma Messer had a hit, two RBI and a run scored in the loss.
Upper Township 11, Greater Wildwood-Optimist 5: Jessica Mooney was the winning pitcher with 12 strikeouts and Carlee Hiddeman and Aubrey Pinter each had two hits and two RBI for Upper. For Optimist, Emily Evans slugged a home run and Charlotte Killian had two hits and two RBI.
MINOR BASEBALL
Greater Wildwood-J Byrne Agency 2, Middle Township Phillies-Jack Shack 1: Will Auty and Angelo Panzini each had RBI hits in a two-run fourth inning and Michael Valerio and Owen Bannon combined for strong pitching for J Byrne. Michael Sciarra recorded an unassisted double play in the win.
COACH PITCH
Greater Wildwood-Poppi’s Pizza 7, Lower Township-John’s Auto Body 3: Drew Robinson had a key hit to help Poppi’s. Ryan Allay made two good defensive plays at home plate for John’s Auto Body.
