ATLANTIC CITY — The impending snow storm has forced the postponement of a boxing event that was scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 6 at the Tropicana in Atlantic City. The card was to feature two local boxers — Josh Mercado and Chuck Mussachio.
According to Mercado’s trainer Conn McMullan, the event has been rescheduled for March 6. All tickets for Saturday’s show will be honored, McMullan said.

RIO GRANDE — Hometown boxer Josh “No Limits” Mercado is training hard for his next bout.
The local pugilist has a professional record of 3 wins, 0 loses and 0 draws and hopes to better that mark on Feb. 6 when he faces junior middleweight Tito Garcia in a scheduled four-round fight at the Tropicana Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City.
Still honing his boxing skills with former pro boxer Conn McMullan, Mercado has added strength and conditioning training to his workout regimen, working with local soccer star Matt Lucas out of the Cape May Health Club (formerly World Gym) on Bayshore Road in North Cape May.
“I would like to give a special thanks to my sponsor (Cape May Health Club),” Mercado said.
“Owners Marcello Mogavero and Fabio Pawlus have been very welcoming to me and my boxing career. They have opened their doors in complete support of making me a World Champion.”
Mercado is also training with Delano (better known as “Panama”) at the Appolo Boxing Gym in the Shoppes in Rio Grande.
Panama and Appolo owner Christine “have given me complete access to their world class facility,” Mercado said.
McMullan, who has been working with Mercado since before he went pro last August, said the conditioning was showing results.
“He’s noticeably stronger. I’m really feeling it when he lands one on me,” McMullan said. The two frequently spar together as well as work on ring movement and punching at Appolo.
Mercado is a Lower Cape May Regional High School alum and former amateur National Collegiate Champion out of Lock Haven University.
The Feb. 6 boxing event marks the first time that Mercado and another local boxing star will fight on the same professional card. Chuck “The Professor” Mussachio (14-1-2) is scheduled to face cruiserweight Richmond Dalphone (2-5-3) in a six-round fight.
In addition to the two local boxers and several other bouts on the card, the headlining fight will be between Atlantic City’s own welterweight contender Shamone “The Truth” Alvarez (20-2-0) and knockout artist Alexis Camacho (17-2-0) in a ten-round welterweight showdown, according to promoter Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing
Anyone interested purchasing tickets to this event can stop by Owen’s Pub in North Wildwood and ask for Conn McMullan.
