Rivalry Soccer Under The Lights

Middle Township's Matt Brown scored two goals in the team's home game against Lower Cape May on Oct. 4.

COURT HOUSE/ERMA – The Middle Township and Lower Cape May Regional High School soccer teams had a busy night on Oct. 4. Boys soccer action took place in Court House while the girls battled it out in Erma.
On the boys’ side, Middle Township won at home to Lower Cape May, 6-3, at the Boyd Street field.
David Gardner scored a hat trick for the Panthers while Matt Brown added two goals and Brendon Bartha added one. Vince Wilson and Eddie Proud each added two assists.
Gabe Crowley and Dan Cristelo each tallied for the Caper Tigers.
In girls’ action, Lower Cape May won, 2-1, against Middle Township on senior night.
Taylor Magill and Tayanis Torres each netted for the Lady Tigers while goalie Marissa Giancola made ten saves.
Kira Sides scored for the Lady Panthers early in the first half of the game.
The Middle Township boys stand at 6-4 as of Oct. 9 and will host Ocean City in a Cape-Atlantic League National division game on Friday at 4 p.m. The girls are 4-7 and will face Holy Spirit and Ocean City this week.
The Lower Cape May boys are 2-7 as of Oct. 9 and will match-up with county rivals Wildwood Catholic and Wildwood this week. The girls are 3-7 and will take on Cape May Tech, Wildwood and Buena Regional this week.
