Girls’ Soccer
In Nov. 11 action, the Middle Township girls dropped a heart-breaking 2-1 overtime decision to Sterling in the South Jersey Group II semifinal. Rachel Wade scored off of a corner kick by C.J. Hengstler. Kristi Salvadore stopped 14 shots. The Panthers finished at 16-5-1.
Field Hockey
In Nov. 12 play, two-time defending state champion Ocean City defeated Central Jersey winner Moorestown, 1-0, in the Group III state semifinal. Rialee Allen scored off of a corner attempt. The Red Raiders have 165 goals scored and a 22-1 record heading into the final.
Warren Hills stopped Ocean City’s bid for a third straight Group III state title with a 5-4 victory over the Red Raiders, Nov. 15. Lauren McNally scored three goals. Rialee Allen also scored.
Boys’ Soccer
In Nov. 10 action, Ocean City defeated Cherry Hill West, 1-0, in the South Jersey Group III semifinal. Zach Zellers scored on an assist from Aaron King.
Middle Township suffered a 2-0 defeat versus Audubon in the South Jersey Group II semifinal. The Panthers finished at 16-5-2.
In Nov. 13 competition, Ocean City captured its 10th sectional title with a 2-0 victory over Toms River South in the South Jersey Group III Final. Donnie VanMeter and Aaron King scored for the 19-3-1 Red Raiders.
Football
In Nov. 13 contests, Wildwood defeated Pleasantville, 22-6, in a consolation game. James Gruel scored two touchdowns. Abdiel Richards added a score on an interception return.
Middle Township shut down Audubon, 22-0, in a consolation game. Colin Cooper, Shawn Scott and Jimmy Versage scored touchdowns.
Ocean City defeated Deptford Township, 17-7. Jared Jones scored two touchdowns. Dan Henderson ran for 128 yards.
Lower Cape May dropped a 28-7 decision to Overbrook in a consolation game. Dylan Harrison scored on a one-yard run.
Cross Country
Ocean City’s Devon Grisbaum took third place in the Group III state race on Nov. 15 at Holmdel Park in Monmouth County. The senior ran the 3.1 mile course in 18 minutes and 34 seconds.
Middle Township’s Ryan Herilhy finished 11th in the Group III. The Panther ran the race in 16 minutes and 25 seconds. Wildwood’s Trevor Gentek finished 10th in Group I. His time was 17:13.
Cape Express Scores
In girls’ play, the U-8 Wolfpack tangled with Pemberton. Aaliayah Jonassaint, Alyssa Morrison, Sofia Sgrignioli and Katie Mac scored. Ella Rulon and Ella McCabe shared goalie duties. Kate D-Wolf Grier, Tessa Hueber, Olivia Sgrignioli and Brooke Nabb led the defense.
The U-10 Surf handled Hainesport. McKenna Gregory and Kira Fleming led the defense while Maddy Monteleone was the offensive stalwart.
The U-11 Sand Sharks fell to the Tar Kill Tornadoes, 3-0. Molly McGuigan and Hallie Chojnacki led the Sharks.
The U-12 Comets were defeated by Haddonfield, 3-0. Chloe Lawler, Morgan Adams, Alissa Ritter, Carly Lashley and Victoria Hutchison led the Comets.
The Comets dropped a tough 2-1 decision versus Washington United. Stephanie Carey scored. Riley Fisher, Jordan Dougherty, Madison Haring, Isabella Aftanis, Carly Lashley, and Brynn Bock led the Comets.
The U-13 Herricanes defeated Highland, 2-1. Ruby Redmond and Emily Mendel scored. Sophia Terenik, Alana Warf, Layla Francis, Laine Burgin, Hadden Miller and Marianna Popzoglou led the ‘canes.
The U-14 Stingrays defeated Indian Mills, 2-0. Logan Thomas and Winter Favre scored. Marissa Giancola, Katie Campbell, Abby Kampmeyer, and Alyssa Jones played well.
In boys’ games, the U-8 Riptide met Mount Laurel. Simon Hardin, Sam Ritti, and David Delconte scored.
The U-10 Blitz met Mainland. Aiden Miller and Evan Merritt scored. Drew Nelson assisted. Andrew Barber, Moustafa Nasr and Ryan Dougherty led the defense.
The U-10 Union dropped a 2-0 decision to Logan. Mathew Hays, Mace Fiorucci, T.J. Sarmientoit Xander Hardin, Owen Ritti, and Miguel Valencia led the Union.
The U-12 Force were defeated by Pittsgrove, 4-3. Eurbey Sanchez Nunez scored twice while Harry Springer added a score off of an assist from Oscar Sanchez. Trevor Tozour led the defense.
The U-12 United were beaten by Medford, 5-1. Michael McGee scored. Connor Bezaire, Braiden Scarpa and Gavin Quinn led United.
The U-16 boys competed in Hammonton’s MAPS Fall Challenge Tournament, Nov. 15. Cape Express U-16 defeated Montgomery United, 3-2. Victor Figueroa scored twice on assists from Trent Canter and Christian Rafter. Mike Roselli also scored.
Express lost to the Roadrunners in the tournament’s second game, 2-1. Ray Wilson scored.
Cape knotted Union United, 0-0, in game three. Anthony Zampirri and Mike Saul led the way.
