Heritage Links Wednesday Night Men’s League Concludes 2015 Season; Looks to 2016

By Sponsored Content

This year proved to be another fun and successful season at Heritage Links. The 2015 Heritage Links Golf Club Wednesday Night Men’s League results are as follows. This year’s A Flight Champion is Mike Rybicki who dethroned last year’s champion on the last hole of play; Gerard Smith came in as the Second Place runner up. The B Flight Champion is Don Crist who also dethroned last year’s champ. Walt Morrell came in as the close Second Place runner up. Flight B Winner, Crist was able to defeat Flight A Winner, Rybicki to win the Overall Championship. As a result, Crist was awarded a trophy for “Most Improved Golfer” and a gift certificate. Trophies and prizes were awarded on September 2 at the annual End of Season Dinner at Joe’s Italian Restaurant in Somers Point.

On Average, 32 to 36 players participated in the league weekly, starting in Mid-May. The League is open to all players and skill levels and goes through Mid-September. Different formats, such as closest to the pin holes, long drive contests and team game formats are common from week to week. Men’s League Commissioner, Bob Lawler, oversees handicaps and averages throughout the summer for pairings and match play tournaments; there is a good mix of high and low handicappers.

After nine holes of golf, a Bar-be-cue with sides and cold beverages is offered every Wednesday night. The league promotes a fun and casual golf experience and is a good way to meet fellow golfers, make friendships and have a friendly competition to boot.

For the 2016 league, we are looking to expand players and possibly add another flight. Players interested in learning more should call the Proshop at (609) 390-4500 or log on to golfheritagelinks.com.
