WILDWOOD – Special Olympics New Jersey athletes will compete in Spring Games March 30-31, the culminating competition event of the spring competition season. Over the last two months, around 5,000 athletes competed in basketball and bowling – two of its most popular sports – across the state, hoping to earn a spot at the state competition.
On March 23-24, athletes participated in bowling at Bowlero in North Brunswick. Teams competed March 23, and Singles were March 24. Fifty-five teams will participate in basketball March 30-31 at various locations in Wildwood, including Byrne Community Center, Crest Pier, North Wildwood Community Center, Wildwood Catholic, Wildwood High School and Wildwoods Convention Center.
Other programs benefiting athletes that will be offered during Spring Games:
• Unified Game Day for elementary school-aged children to learn about disability awareness at the Wildwoods Convention Center March 29.
• Free medical screenings, baseline concussion testing and performance stations for registered athletes at the Wildwoods Convention Center March 30.
• Boardwalk 5K Fundraiser in Wildwood, March 30.
• Unified Cup Basketball tournament for high schools and colleges at Princeton University April 7.
