NORTH WILDWOOD – The 51st James Beschen-Michael Callahan Memorial Lifeguard Races were held July 12 on North Wildwood beaches.
Wildwood Crest Beach Patrol took overall first place. Host patrol North Wildwood won second place, with Wildwood Beach Patrol capturing third. Sea Isle City Beach Patrol took fourth place.
These races are held annually in memory of two North Wildwood Beach Patrol lifeguards, James Beschen and Michael Callahan, both of whom were killed in the Vietnam war.
