Dr. Logan Serves in DC Office Of Nebraska Congressman

By Press Release

WASHINGTON – The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) has announced that the three veterinarians selected for the 2017-2018 AVMA Fellowship Program have secured year-long placements as full-time staff in congressional offices.
Those fellows will use their veterinary expertise to provide science-based counsel to their offices, according to a release.
Placements included:
Dr. Mark Logan who will serve in the office of Rep. Jeff Fortenberry (R-Neb.). His areas of responsibility will include wildlife conservation, agriculture, small business issues, and nutrition.
Logan graduated from University of Pennsylvania College of Veterinary Medicine in 1983 and moved to Court House to begin a 34-year career in private small animal practice.
That practice, Baysea Veterinary Hospital in Rio Grande, closed as a result of Logan’s career change.
Baysea files were transferred to Parkway Veterinary Hospital, 1173 Route 9 South, Court House.
The 2017-2018 fellows were selected out of 19 applicants for the program which included a three-phased, competitive selection process. The fellows are not AVMA employees or lobbyists.
The fellowship program is sponsored through the American Association for the Advancement of Science, which works to place qualified scientific experts in congressional offices where they are needed, and the AVMA provides funding for the program.
To date, more than 65 veterinarians have participated in the AVMA Fellowship Program.
