Transform Your Shed into a Summerhouse

Seashore Sheds

Sheds are typically used for storage, whether it be your holiday decorations, your gardening tools or your beach gear. But sometimes sheds become filled with lost and forgotten junk, junk that we most likely don’t need.
Consider transforming your shed into a summerhouse – the perfect way to create your own backyard getaway while getting rid of unwanted junk at the same time. Do you want to create a she shed where you can escape and read a good book? How about a man cave where the guys can hang? Or, do you want to make a play house just for the kids? Let your imagination run wild!
The first step to creating your summerhouse is to clear out and clean your shed. Separate its contents into two piles: trash and sell. Trash the items that aren’t worth salvaging, and sell the items that you think might be worth something. Once the shed is clear, hose down the inside and outside and leave it open to dry completely.
The outside of your summerhouse is just as important as the inside, which leads us to our next step – adding “curb appeal.” A simple coat of paint combined with some flower boxes, plants and decorations such as wind chimes will create a welcoming feel.
The third step to creating your backyard getaway is to prepare the inside. Painting the inside of your shed will make it feel brand new as well as lighten the interior. Choose light colors such as white, beige or pastel colors. You can even consider covering the floor if you don’t want to settle for the wooden shed floor. Or, you can simply use a large area rug to cover the space.
Add the finishing touches to your summerhouse with the last step, furnishing and decorating the interior. Give the building its own style and determine what you want to use it for. This is your chance to get creative, but we suggest items such as storage units, comfy chairs, a small table, pillows and blankets, curtains and some wall art.
