It’s Old, But It’s New Also

By Press Release

“Everything old is new again,” and this is apparent when looking at the design trends for bathrooms.
The challenge lies in combining the “old fashioned essence” with the practical and sleeker styles of today. And with the advancement of better materials in the marketplace, many of the limitations and disadvantages of past methods are no longer an issue.
Victoria and Albert is one company that is fast becoming a global leader in bath innovation and design. V&A’s solid surface material, ENGLISHCAST™ is used in the production of their tubs and vessel bowls.
ENGLISHCAST™ is a unique blend of volcanic limestone and resin that allows large and complex shapes to be cast in one flowing seamless piece. Unlike cast-iron, ENGLISHCAST™ quickly contains the heat of the hot water and holds it. Think of a thermos which holds and insulates water heat.
This results in less hot water being needed to help keep the water warm. ENGLISHCAST™ is also a much lighter product than cast iron so weight displacement is not an issue. This is also a benefit that extends into their transportation efforts of using less fuel and energy.
Victoria and Albert bathtubs have a renewable surface and a 25-year warranty. Scratches and stains simply polish out because the ENGLISHCAST™ is the same throughout the tubs, and although their tubs are a natural white gloss finish the exteriors can be painted.
Victoria and Albert’s commitment to the environment extends to their packaging. All tubs are shipped in recycled cardboard on pallets made of reclaimed wood, with strapping made from recycled bottles.
Victoria and Albert have divided their tubs between Classic and Contemporary styles. Their Classic line resembles the old fashioned “clawfoot tubs” and are offered with feet or pedestal bases.
Their Contemporary line blends the idea of the old style tubs but gives them a new updated, contemporary design. They are sleek and simple, yet sophisticated.
Come see Victoria & Albert’s Amalfi — a contemporary slipper tub — on display at GSI Bath Showplace, 373 96th Street, Stone Harbor, at the foot of the bridge.
We are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays by appointment only. Visit our website at www.gsibathshowplace.com.
