TRENTON – An Executive Order by Gov. Phil Murphy is going to close daycares throughout the state unless the daycare will exclusively service children of essential employees.
According to a release, paperwork must be filed with the state immediately if the daycare is attempting to stay open.
The Executive Order 110 reads “Any ‘child care center’, including those as defined in this executive order, that fails to timely certify shall be closed to the public as of April 1, 2020, and remain closed through the school closure period.”
The Cape May County Office of Emergency Management wanted to ensure local daycares had access to the form because of the importance of keeping local daycares open for essential employees during this time.

Some of the essential employees that are outlined in the Executive Order include but are not limited to first responders, health care workers, essential government employees, Social Services workers, and workers of essential retail operations.
