By Press Release

CAPE MAY – To best protect the public and employees of the Cape May Police Department temporary changes have been made in police procedures to avoid potential exposure of the COVID-19 virus.

Those having complaints going into the Cape May Police Department will be directed to standby in the lobby and an officer will make contact with them.

This will be done by either keeping the suggested six-foot distance or preferably through the dispatch telephone in the lobby to decide what actions need to be taken to address the individual’s concerns.

The Cape May Police Department will make every effort to take incident reports and handle non-emergent calls for service via telephone instead of responding to a caller’s location.

If contacting the police department for non-emergency calls an officer will return the phone call as soon as possible.

These procedures will be frequently evaluated over the next couple of weeks and the department will release new information as soon as it becomes available.
