Ocean City Fishing Club Donates $250 to Sandy Relief Fund

By Press Release

OCEAN CITY – Trustees and officers of the Ocean City Fishing Club have voted to contribute $250 to the Ocean City Community Food Cupboard to help local residents affected by Sandy’s devastating storm, President Paul K. Keuerleber announced.
The club made the donation to the Ocean City Ecumenical Council, Inc., which maintains the Ocean City Community Food Cupboard.
“It is heart-warming to have so many people helping those who lost everything,” Ecumenical Council President Elaine L. Wilson wrote in a letter of response to the fishing club. “Because of generous people like you, we can help put a smile on many faces.”
Wilson said donated funds are used to purchase bags of emergency food, toiletries, and cleaning supplies for needy victims of a destructive storm that has been officially labeled as a “post-tropical cyclone.”
The Ocean City Fishing Club, which was founded in 1913, will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2013. It is the oldest, continuously operating fishing club in the nation.
